Introduction

This dark building situated on the scarecrow street attracts everyone’s attention from the very begining. One can’t help being curious about what is going on there inside. I’d like to clarify some things about ToD that hopefully may be useful for both for experienced players and beginners.
   
To participate in the tournament you should make a stake. Not so much, only three credits will be enough, it is possible due to few participants, but you get the chance to win much much more.  But someday we will have large tournaments as in ru. version.

So, you became level 6th and want to take your chances in ToD to collect enough money to get ready to  level 7th.  

 But not so fast. I would recommend to get a higher level to challenge others. The fact is, that most of the items inside are for level 7 and of course you can’t put them on due to requirements and lack of stats. It is also difficult in the beginning of 7th level, but the further the better.  But you gain experience, which is very important. Cause even 8th levels can behave themselves as novice.

Weaponry

There are items of  Dark Steel and Golden sets in the tower. No oblivion and fear. So you can choose one set to adjust your stats as best as you can.  Most of players choose dark steel set which requires the following stats:  25 10 25 25.  To my mind, this way is the best at the moment because there are a lot of dark steel items inside and it is a critical set after all. Who wouldn’t like to hit his opponent with 60-100 strike and collect his items at once? Golden set has such disadvantages as:
- During a fist-fight you are helpless against those who have 25 perception. 30 agility doesn’t work at all, but you get one critical hit after another.
- You can’t end battle with two beautiful hits because you have no critical mf. (I’m not talking about dark steel items without requirements)
- Can’t resist magic staffs. Dark steel items will help you make critical hits at least which are useful against mages.
But if you are lucky to get many golden items, then you are almost invincible (most of them increase your antictical and dodge modificators). Almost. And here we come to the most interesting point.   Mages rule!  Staffs  rule in the tower. Even if you go alone and found a staff, than you have the highest chance to win. I’m not describing how it works hoping that everyone (will) encounter (-ed ) it on lower levels. But I am impressed actually. You can’t resist  against magic. So many players choose 5 intelligence and mastery of magical staffs instead of swords or axes. A wise choice, but who knows how this will be changed when we get oblivion and fear items in the tower? This is how the cookie crumbles.
Anyway, when you reach the 8th level, you’ll be able to use both one of the sets and magical staffs.

Tactics

This is a freedom for your fantasy ;)
If you choose to join a team, then you will follow captain’s orders.
If you go alone, then just listen to yourself ;) Do not attack everyone you see even he seems to be weaker. He may be in a team and in this case you will have to fight his teammates with the exception if you have a staff. An opponent won’t stand long against you and whether you kill him with staff or he will lose by timeout.

Timeouts are chosen randomly from one minute to five.  You can always take your chances and delay a fight hitting once in a two or three minutes but then you shouldn’t be surprised when you are out of the tournament after the first minute and your former opponent is armed and dangerous ;)

Cheque

If you find a little paper with bearer-cheque on it then it is only left to find Archives Keeper or one of his assistants. Their number vary from one tournament to another.  Let us imagine that you met him in the next room. You should perform the following:
Click on transactions, choose the nick of Archives Keeper, then section other and after that present  it to him. Not as a usual transfer but as a gift. It is very important. But Archives Keeper may be in bad mood and can attack you instead of transfer 400 CR. Well, it is all about luck anyway ;)

Transfers

You may transfer items in ToD for 5 CR fee. There is no “present” option inside excepting the case when you are transferring cheque to Arhivist.

Types of tournaments

Dark tournament - you can not see items equipped on other players and their health points until you are in the same room. It is supposed that outside no one  can see what is going on in the tower, but it doesn’t work in New Cap.

Light tournament – You can see where a players is at the moment.

Fury tournament - You can attack whether you want it or not ;) Pretty fun indeed, but we are supposed to see a note that it is a fury tournament. Sometimes, you get it only when you automatically attack smb. It is worse when you attack your ally ;)

Depending on type of the tournament, health points can restore as usual, twice as faster as usual and do not restore at all.  Be careful and don’t fight without a real reason ;)

Injuries

Characters of 6th and 7th levels are used to get major injuries which can’t be cured. 8 levels has protection of injuries and I suppose it helps us a bit. They don’t get major as a rule.

Archives Keeper

His main function is to cash your cheques, but he can attack us whenever he wants. Be careful when you fight him, it is possible to lose by timeout even after 30 seconds since the last hit. I would recommend hitting him no longer than once in a minute.

Map

Find an appropriate map of ToD and print it. Or at least keep it opened in IE while you are playing.  Can’t advertise here my favorite ;)

PS.  There are a few items in the tower as well and some rooms are often empty. Due to a few number of participants your internet connection is not so extremely important.  But of course, it is recommended to use LAN.

Many lower levels have been asking me about ToD... before, I could only ask them to read the Help at ToD... now, at least I can refer them to this post.

Don't understand why people choose to pick bones from the egg when good information has been presented... sigh... maybe, is it okay to spare a thought for those who do not understand the Russian language?  Appreciate.
