Dear citizens. I am glad to announce a Translator Contest to you.

People who know English and Russian languages as well and beleive that they are able to translate stories written on these languages without mistakes and keeping the language style may join and try themselves. Winners might be invited for some works in city developement.

You have to do the following:

1) Follow the links submitted in this topic and translate from Russian to English everything you can. Attention, you may skip some texts, phrases or words if they are too difficult for you.

2) Send your translations until 08.04.2007 to demius@rambler.ru with subject:

TRANSLATOR CONTEST - "Your nickname" - "City of Origin","Country of Origin"

You may ask any question regarding this contest in this topic. Flooders will be punished.

The winner will be announced here after 10.04.2007

1 place - 350 cr
2 place - 250 cr
3 place - 150 cr

I have a list of questions about the contest :)

1. Some of the facts mentioned in this articles is not up-to-date. Should we leave it as it is, or get rid of the mistakes?

2. Should it be metaphrase the text or it can be a liberal translation? IMHO liberal translation give more opportunities for style and contents as lets the translator translate the meaning instead of words. Liberal translation would be easier to understand to folks who speak English and read this text for the first time.

3. #3 is more like a proposal, instead of a question :) What if we would write our own story on the topic of the article? ;)

But it is more easy to become a winner if you wil translate all of them of course.
