Actualy, this happened before the war according to the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. USSR simply did not want to give up territorial gains of the pact. For example, Poland had never got Lvov back... Revisions of post-war borders seem to me like playing with a tinderbox in a gupowder cellar.
The Great Patriotic War had resulted in destruction of Nazi Germany as well as hopes for the "World revolution", setting a "communism in a single state" ideology in USSR, which resulted in a hopeless cold war against a much stronger alliance of economies.
As for occupation by USSR, Russia was occupied in 1917, Latvia was occupied in 1940.
Both are free now... Let's just be happy about that :)

Oh realy and when 1944 summer USSR army expulsion Germanians from Lithuania then it was free country? Later USSR ocupated LT...

Aprill, how would u know we hate russians or not? By saying "one half hates russians and other half doesn't" makes u look funny though. I dont hate russians, neither May 9th is a special day for me.

Three out of 4 of my grandparents were exiled to siberia cause they were taking part in movement against ussr occupation.
